The Ennistymon Book Town Festival was established in 2012.
2015’s festival attracted a domestic and international audience to Ennistymon, and created a hub of writers, readers and creators.
Our programme of eclectic literary events aims to inspire & delight, and includes a variety of family-friendly events. The festival engages the local community and visitors in Co Clare’s rich and diverse literary culture. Novelists, poets and non-fiction writers of all kind attend – you just might get the chance to meet your favourite writer!
As part of the festival, pop-up bookshops appear throughout the town – stocking antiquarian collectibles, paperback fiction, poetry, bargain new books, books of local interest. If you can imagine it, the chances are, it will be there.
Events in 2015 included a special 60th birthday poetry reading by Rita Ann Higgins, celebrating her unique contribution to Irish literature – more details here, an international poetry evening, a reading by Gerry Harrison, and a poetry workshop.
